Green Week 2025 Impact Figures

TU Dublin celebrated it's seventh annual Green Week since the University's formation in 2019, with events taking place between 10 - 14 March 2025.
The week of action and education for environmental sustainability brought together more than 1,621 people from across the five TU Dublin campus locations and their communities to collaborate in more than 50 events and activities which focused on taking local and national action.
The volume and diversity of events co-created by students, staff, community groups, NGOs and industry partners during the week-long initiative highlights the scaling up of innovation and action to help lower the University's carbon emissions, protect local biodiversity, and enhance our campus and local environment.
Shared Impact
Universities can act as a neutral space for people to discuss and debate complex global issues like climate change, climate injustice, and the biodiversity loss crisis. The diversity of thinkers, educators, researchers, and advocates within a University, like TU Dublin, contribute meaningful ideas and impactful solutions to tackling these challenges across all levels of third level education.
TU Dublin opens its doors to the wider community during Green Week, and this year the University collaborated with 11 community and industry partners across events, and welcomed more than 350 people from across the Dublin region to participate in activities.
TU Dublin’s campuses, all 185 acres of grounds and 204,300 m² of accommodation in 47 buildings, showcase a test bed for environmental sustainability. This year over 1,840 native Irish trees were planted on our campuses, and 37 volunteers collected 30 full bags of litter.
Green Week at TU Dublin strengthens our commitment to environmental sustainability and deepens our connections with our university community. The week of action supports many of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), in particular; SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
