Grangegorman Community Garden - Meet the Committee members - Student Volunteering
As part of ‘TU Dublin Student Life’, the Student Volunteering programme works to enhance our students’ experience, boost graduate attributes, and make all students at TU Dublin feel a sense of good well-being and belonging.
As a member of the Grangegorman Community Garden Committee, the TU Dublin Student Volunteering Coordinator offers much-needed and practical support to the Grangegorman Community Garden, engaging students from all areas of the University to volunteer in the garden, help manage up-keep and to encourage students take part in educational activities. Students who volunteer fulfil a key role by taking up both planned and ad-hoc (and sometimes last minute) activity in the garden, working on their own initiative or alongside other garden volunteers to establish this new community space.
We work in partnership with students and staff to advocate for and champion the impact and benefits of volunteering, while promoting and encouraging awareness and engagement with the UN SDGs.
Interest
Provide opportunities for TU Dublin students to engage in environmental volunteering on campus at Grangegorman, to enable students to learn about gardening.
Desired Outcome
Students engage in regular and episodic volunteering opportunities at the garden and attain a sense of accomplishment and wellbeing. We will ensure that student volunteers are kept abreast of the developments with the garden and feel a sense of ownership alongside staff and external stakeholders.
Contribution
Communicate and activate TU Dublin students who have expressed interest in volunteering to engage with opportunities to support the development and maintenance of the Garden. To also provide recognition and reward to those who get involved, encouraging long-term involvement of students with the garden.
