Grangegorman Community Garden - Meet the Committee members - GDA
As the State developer for the Grangegorman site, the Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA) is responsible for the coordination of development across the 73-acre campus at Grangegorman. The Grangegorman Community Garden, which is currently made up of four allotment-style beds was developed as part of the initial planting and landscaping plan as part of the Grangegorman Masterplan. As members of the Grangegorman Community Garden Committee, the GDA play a key role to support and guide the development of the garden space.
The intention behind the original design for this space is for it to become an actively used garden. We are interested in fostering connections within the wider Grangegorman community to engage in growing, learning, and enjoying this space together. In time, there are many opportunities for this to become a space for engagement with community groups, schools and local interested parties.
Interest
This purpose-built garden is part of an integrated landscape and biodiversity vision for the Grangegorman urban quarter. We are interested in how this pilot project could evolve as an inclusive space for the enjoyment of all Grangegorman’s communities.
Desired Outcome
The intention behind the original design is for it to become an actively used garden. We are interested in fostering connections within the wider Grangegorman community to engage in growing, learning, and enjoying this space together. There is also an opportunity to potentially collaborate and learn from community gardens across the city.
Contribution
Our role is to develop the Grangegorman site for health, education and community. We see this pilot project as embodying these core principles and we will work with our partners to develop this vision and build connections with the wider Grangegorman community.
