Grangegorman Community Garden - Meet the Committee members - D7 ETNS
The Dublin 7 Educate Together National School (D7 ETNS) is heavily invested in the Grangegorman Community Garden, with all class groups from the primary school participating in the pilot project. As members of the Grangegorman Community Garden Committee, and active growers in the garden, the school play a key role to develop the garden space and offer practised-based learning to students.
D7ETNS aims to include Educating for Sustainable Development across all areas of our curriculum. The community garden offers opportunity to have hands on experience engaging with growing and biodiversity on our doorstep. We are thrilled to be part of this project.
Interest
Nature, sustainability, and biodiversity have been core values of our school since it first opened. With the move to our beautiful new building, we have lost some of our opportunities for planting on site so we are delighted to be part of this exciting project on the campus.
Desired Outcome
We hope to be able to implement our planting programme year-on-year giving all children in our school opportunities for planting throughout the year.
Contribution
We will be regularly bringing groups of children to plant and tend to our beds. We hope to input in other areas too such as educational workshops and the design of the community garden.
