Education for Sustainability Digital Badge
Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), South East Technological University (SETU) and the National Forum of Teaching and Learning (T&L) are teaming up to jointly deliver the Education for Sustainability Digital Badge in a fully online format.
Course overview
The Education for Sustainability digital badge is an introductory course, exploring the basic concepts and practical steps on how to embed sustainability across the curriculum. Education for Sustainability aims to empower learners with knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to take informed decisions and make responsible actions for environmental integrity, economic viability and a just society empowering people of all genders, for present and future generations, while respecting cultural diversity (UNESCO, 2021).
The course aims to:
- Reflect on the role of education for sustainability in the context of global, national, and local drivers.
- Engage with education for sustainability concepts, contexts, principles, and practices.
- Examine the EU Competency Framework (GreenComp) through the lens of embodying sustainability values, embracing complexity in sustainability, envisioning sustainable futures, and acting for sustainability.
- Explore how to redesign elements of your teaching and learning practice by embedding education for sustainability principles.
Who is this Digital Badge for?
This introductory course is available to staff working in TU Dublin and SETU.
Dates and time commitment
Starting 04 March 2024, 25 learning hours over six weeks. Weekly live one-hour webinars (Thursdays) and self-directed learning and peer engagement. Optional five-hour add-on for a Facilitator Digital Badge. Registration is open until 29 February, 17:00pm on a first-come first-served basis.
