Education for Sustainability Digital Badge 2025

Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), South East Technological University (SETU), Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and the National Forum of Teaching and Learning (T&L) are once again teaming up to jointly deliver the Education for Sustainability Digital Badge 2025 in a fully online format.

Participation in the course is free, and a bursary of €500 is available to participating TU Dublin colleagues who would like to implement sustainability-related innovative pedagogical approaches in their TLA practice.

Course overview

The Education for Sustainability digital badge is an introductory course, exploring the basic concepts and practical steps on how to embed sustainability across the curriculum. Education for Sustainability aims to empower learners with knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to take informed decisions and make responsible actions for environmental integrity, economic viability and a just society empowering people of all genders, for present and future generations, while respecting cultural diversity (UNESCO, 2021).

Who is this Digital Badge for? 

This introductory course is available to staff working in Higher Education or Further Education. The Digital Badge will be of interest to academic staff who are seeking to incorporate sustainability skills more into their programmes.

Dates and time commitment 

Starting 20 February 2025, 25 learning hours over six weeks. Weekly live one-hour webinars (Thursday lunch-time) and self-directed learning and peer engagement. Optional five-hour add-on for a Facilitator Digital Badge.
