The Future of Organic Soils in Ireland

TU Dublin is delighted to welcome students, staff, and researchers to a panel discussion event on The Future of Organic Soils in Ireland.

As part of TU Dublin Green Week, TU Dublin is excited to invite soil enthusiasts to an engaging panel discussion that will provide a hands-on perspective as well as insights from researchers on the future of organic soils in Ireland – what is working well in the management of peatlands and organic soils currently, what new information has been obtained and what changes need to be made.
Meet the panel
Expert contributors include;
- Stephen Barry, Technical Advisor on Land-use at Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications,
- Katie Smirnova, Public Liaison Officer on the FarmPEAT Project in 2023-24 and currently Stakeholder Engagement Officer AI2Peat / PeatSense project
The panel will discuss current and future perspectives on organic soils in Ireland and there will be an opportunity for questions following the discussion.
This event is organised by Dr Claire McDonnell, Saurabh Singh, and Dr Ken Boyle, in collaboration with TU835 Planning & Environmental Management students, and is part of the EU Horizon-funded LOESS Soil Health Education and Awareness Project.
