Inaugural Entrepreneurship Education Share and Learn Symposium held at TU Dublin
GROWTHhub in partnership with the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship recently welcomed over 50 entrepreneurship educators to the inaugural Entrepreneurship Education Share and Learn Symposium at TU Dublin’s Aungier Street campus.
The purpose of the event was to bring together higher education entrepreneurship and innovation educators to share and learn from each other’s entrepreneurship education innovations. The keynote speaker was Professor Karen Williams Middleton from Chalmers University in Sweden. Karen provided the delegates with insights from research from the Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship activities that develop student entrepreneurial mindsets and engagement.
For the Share and Learn workshops there were 20 presentations in areas including entrepreneurship education pedagogy, sustainability entrepreneurship, community engagement, and digital entrepreneurship. Presenters came from Atlantic Technological University, Dublin City University, Munster Technological University, South East Technological University, Technological University Dublin, Trinity College Dublin University College Dublin.
Selected by the attendees, the winners of best track presentations on the day were:
- Gillian Roddie (Tangent at Trinity College Dublin) – The entrepreneurship paradox: failing forward in formal education
- Dr Lucia Walsh (School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at TU Dublin) – Enhancing students’ entrepreneurial mindsets to solve sustainability challenges
- Dr Ziene Mottiar (School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at TU Dublin) – Capturing more voice in entrepreneurship education
- Dr Joanne Malone (South East Technological University) – GROWTHhub Cafe
GROWTHhub at TU Dublin and South East Technological University Dublin were particularly delighted to see that two of its entrepreneurship education bursary projects among the best presentation awardees with Dr Lucia Walsh and Dr Joanne Malone.
The event was organised by the GROWTHhub leads at TU Dublin and South East Technological University, Paul O’Reilly and Dr Margaret Tynan, and Dr Therese Moylan from the Institute of Art Design and Technology and the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. On the day the organisers announced commitments for the symposium to run in 2023 and 2024.
