14 teams participated at the 2nd TU Dublin President’s Sustainability Innovation Challenge last Friday 03 November 2023
Thanks for all the students that participated in the 2nd TU Dublin President’s Sustainability Innovation Challenge on 03 November 2023.
We had 14 amazing teams who came up with fabulous ideas on how to reduce the some of the negative impact of fast fashion. Well done to all. You were a fabulous group to work with.
Across the day the groups were led by Caitlin Hafer (from What-The-Hack.Solutions), applying a range of ideation tools, including marshmallow castles and LEGO, to the challenge.
The price winners were:
- 1st place, with a prize of €1,000: Congratulations to Team 14 Aoife Croke, Evija Hodjakova, Jessica Ropotan and Katie O Connell
- 2nd place, with a prize of €500: Congratulations to Team 1 Alannah Bascoul, Anna Davidson, Dylan Francis McEvoy, Elli Branigan and Wade Claassen
- 3rd place, with a prize of €500: Congratulations to Team 7 and Team 12 Dean Byrne, Doireann Byrne Ryan, Karl Viio, Uyen Jackson, Cristi Prunaru, Diana Dargajova, Leah Gilmore and Marco Nocerino.
Judges:
- Colm Canning, Learning and Development Programme Manager at Workday. Workday provided us with the super generous prize fund of €2,000.
- Gavan Cleary, GROWTHhub Entrepreneurship Education Facilitator.
- Lucia Walsh, TU Dublin Sustainability Education Lead. Lucia also provided great insights about social impact.
- Neill McCabe, a serial social entrepreneur in addition to his full time job Firefighter and Paramedic with Dublin Fire Brigade. Neil also shared his experience as a social entrepreneur with the students on the morning.
