Entrepreneurial Ambassador with the School of Food Science and Environmental Health

 

Vincent Cleary is the Managing Director of the iconic yoghurt brand Glenisk.  The company was founded in 1987 and was the No.1 Yogurt Brand in Ireland up to September 27, 2021, when a fire destroyed their one and only manufacturing facility. Under Vincent’s leadership, Glenisk are currently rebuilding both their factory and their lost business, with a rebuild programme that will see them regain their No. 1 position in Ireland. Glenisk’s point of difference to their competitors is that they offer their customers an organic alternative.  Indeed, they have been active in the furthering of environmentally friendly agricultural practices for the past 25 years.

Prior to his current role In Glenisk, Vincent lived and worked In Germany for almost eight years, becoming fluent in the language and also becoming fascinated In how Germans view the world. Apart from food, Vincent is particularly interested in the electrification of transportation, both private cars and commercial vehicles. Indeed, he is a big supporter of micro generation.

As an Entrepreneurial Ambassador with the School of Food Science and Environmental Health, Vincent is particularly looking forward to working with students with entrepreneurial ambitions and who are interested in making a difference.  Based on his recent experience, he can offer advice in how to survive the inevitable crisis that comes to every business.

While Vincent spends most of his time focused on Glenisk and how they can improve as an organisation, when not working he enjoys pottering in the garden, tending to his chickens and chauffeuring his daughter and her ponies around the country to various sporting events.
