Entrepreneurial Ambassador - Graduate Research School

Dr. Francis (Fran) Behan is the European Corporate Innovation Process Manager for Corning Incorporated, a US materials innovator in the Glass, Ceramic and Optical Physics markets.  Fran is an alumnus of the DIT School of Physics and he holds a PhD from the TU Dublin School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, as well as an MBA from the Open University in the United Kingdom. Fran has been an Associate Editor with the International Journal of Innovation Science (IJIS) since 2017.

Prior to his current role, Fran has spent his career in front of customers globally and led innovation teams in a corporate environment where the early understanding of a market needs, and technical solution offerings were assessed to facilitate decisions on whether to add them to the corporate innovation portfolio or park them for future use.

Fran is particularly looking forward to working with TU Dublin research students who are interested in building a sustainable competitive offering in export orientated markets. Fran can offer insight and advice in the explore phase of innovation, assessing the needs of the market and the strategy for the positioning the initial offering to secure revenue streams to support the firm.

When not working Fran enjoys running, golfing and walking in the local hills. He has a particular passion for the circular economy and addressing ways to reduce the packaging waste that we see on the streets of Ireland.

“As an Entrepreneurial Ambassador, I'm looking to inspire students to turn their innovation ideas into a commercial reality. I am a graduate of the University, and it would be an honour to be able to work with and support future entrepreneurs and innovators.
