Dr. Dee Duffy
Senior Engagement Manager: Retail, Tourism and Hospitality Sectors
Email: Dee.Duffy@tudublin.ie
Dee is a business-minded educator with a social conscience. She brings years of experience working in both local and international markets across the retail, tourism, and hospitality sectors. Dee attended her first GAA football match at the All-China Gaelic Games while on an Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission to Beijing back in 2005!
When she moved from ‘doing’ business, to ‘teaching’ business, she completed a postgraduate diploma in teaching & learning to understand best practices in education design. Subsequently Dee won an award at the University for innovative teaching on her Professional Development module.
Dee identifies as a life-long learner. She recognises the value of continuous learning and growing, embracing the concept, ‘Return on Capability’. Acquiring new skills or taking a course is never a waste of time. It may not deliver the intended results but will unleash unintended successes. Dee spent four years researching her doctoral thesis. She recognises her capabilities grew along the 4-year journey and is not confined to the output of her Ph.D. work.
In her leisure time, Dee practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In January 2023 she competed at the IBJJF European Championships in Paris and won double gold in her division.
Dee advocates competitive sport as an ideal space to develop both life and employability skills.
