X-Pollinator 2024 co-sponsored by the Enterprise Academy
The Enterprise Academy is delighted to sponsor X-Pollinator and support this pioneering professional development event and its group of new and diverse filmmakers, screenwriters, directors and producers, from a range of disciplines while enhancing our collaboration with Screen Ireland and the School of Media at TU Dublin.
X-POLLINATOR is a cross-disciplinary professional development and networking initiative for female, trans and non-binary talent launched four years ago, setting out to help rapidly address gender diversity in the Irish screen industry.
X-Pollinator participants for 2024 were selected from over three hundred applications. This group of new and diverse filmmakers will take part in a large-scale event consisting of a curated programme of talks, masterclasses, panel discussions, roundtables and networking. The participants consist of screenwriters, directors and producers, including many from other disciplines and art forms such as theatre, journalism, acting, crew members and executives.
X-Pollinator 2024 Event
X-Pollinator 2024 will take place from February 23rd to 25th on campus at TU Dublin Grangegorman and aims to inspire collaboration and facilitate the forging of new creative teams and partnerships to foster the creation, development and production of new work for the screen. The initiative will also cover the business and practical side of creative screen content and navigating the audio-visual industry.
Industry speakers and programme highlights include:
- Aoife McArdle, director of Apple’s Severance
- Ella Glendining, director of the BAFTA-nominated Is There Anybody Out There?
- A work in progress panel on Ready or Not, the upcoming debut feature film from director Claire Frances Byrne
- A case study of the Locarno prize winner Animal from director Sofia Exarchou and producer Maria Drandaki, which will be screened for participants with a networking reception, sponsored by Droga5 Dublin and TU Dublin Enterprise Academy.
X-POLLINATOR 2024 is supported by Screen Ireland through the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme and Coimisiún na Meán, in association with Creative Europe Desk Ireland and TU Dublin School of Media.
In late 2019, the inaugural two weekend event saw 140 participants, 37 sessions and 63 industry speakers inspire collaborations and networking amongst the next wave of Irish talent. Since then, X-POLLINATOR has run more initiatives and built a strong network of over 170 female, trans and non-binary talent. Many of the previous participants have gone on to collaborate and make work for the screen that has received funding and support, screening at multiple festivals and won awards.
