Commenting on the collaboration, Rosemary Steen, CEO, Design & Crafts Council Ireland said: “I am thrilled to announce we are working with Technological University Dublin for the Luxury Retailing Workshop. This initiative, supported by the Local Enterprise Office network, is a pivotal step in our journey towards Showcase 2025, a landmark year as we celebrate Showcase Ireland's 50th anniversary."

Our main objective with this workshop is to empower Irish designers and craftspeople with the essential skills to understand and articulate the value of their products, positioning them effectively in luxury retail channels. This is especially crucial for participants of Showcase Ireland 2025, as they prepare to captivate an even broader spectrum of international and domestic buyers. We are excited to have already commenced preparations for Showcase 2025 by launching this workshop with TU Dublin.

This collaboration is an excellent example of the work we do at the Enterprise Academy. As a single-entry point for enterprises to partner with TU Dublin, we broker relationships with industry and TU Dublin's schools and faculties to co-create talent development initiatives that support long-term skills strategies. The Enterprise Academy works with enterprises across all sectors and business types to create flexible learning solutions.

The Luxury Retailing Workshop in conjunction with the Design and Craft Council Ireland promises to be an engaging learning experience that bridges the gap between craftsmanship and luxury retailing principles. By providing a platform for education, collaboration, and networking, this initiative aims to elevate the standard of luxury retailing in Ireland, said Dr. Dee Duffy, Senior Engagement Manager at the Enterprise Academy.

We understand the importance of structured lifelong learning and continual upskilling through micro-credentials and workshops such as this programme. We hope that the launch of this programme will be a starting point for further collaborations with the DCCI and look forward to developing further practice-based courses and workshops for the Craft and Design sectors.

Exploring topics such as Luxury Products and Luxury Commerce in a learning environment like TU Dublin's School of Art & Design means that discussion is facilitated through cross-curricular learning and this allows for a thorough examination of how craft can meet commerce in a changing luxury landscape.

Katriona Flynn, Lecturer, TU Dublin, Luxury Goods Management adds: “Luxury and luxury consumers are changing. In the dynamic world of luxury products and commerce, brands embark on a journey that exceeds mere retailing. Understanding the resonance of a brand's story becomes paramount and it is through this narrative that a connection is forged, a connection that again exceeds the transactional and evolves into a relationship, an experience.
