We were delighted Colman Farrell (Head of Education and Professional Development, Screen Ireland), Emer MacAvin (Skills Development Executive – Screen Ireland), Dr Mary Ann Bolger, head of the discipline of Media Arts at the School of Media and Hugh McAtamney, Senior Engagement Manager with the Enterprise Academy joined us for this discussion and Q&A.

About our Collaborative Talent Development Community of Practice
The Enterprise Academy’s Collaborative Talent Development Community of Practice (CoP) is aimed at bringing academic and professional services staff, business leaders and policy-makers together to improve how universities and enterprise work together.
Our monthly events consists of faculty and professional services staff and industry partners who collaboratively curate each session's theme, content and learning outcomes, providing practitioners with a platform to share and exhibit their findings. During these sessions Community of Practice participants will gain:
- updated perspectives on critical and emerging skills
- insights into how to build relationship and networks between academia and enterprise
- university-enterprise engagement strategies for successful collaboration in developing future talent.
The aim of our Community of Practice is to amplify the enterprise voice at TU Dublin through genuine member-led engagement. Our community offers a unique space for both faculty and enterprise representatives to jointly enhance university-enterprise engagement by sharing successful practices, emphasising crucial University-Enterprise engagement drivers, and addressing specific challenges.

- Oct 2024: Exploring the benefits of Microcredentials for Individuals and Businesses with guest speakers John Kilroy, Founder & CPO, Digital Learning Institute; Tina Maree, National Executive Officer, Irish Hospitality Institute; and Dr Philip Owende, Assistant Head of Academic Affairs, TU Dublin.
- May 2024: Maura O'Toole, Principal Trainer at Facilitrain who conducted a deep dive into: Future work trends and impacts; key skills shortages in Ireland v the rest of the world and help us understand skills first recruitment and management strategies.

April 2024: AI and the talent pipeline with Stephanie Prenderville explained why organisations need to ditch the current HR / People playbook, and what the alternatives are; what skills we need to focus on in the immediate term - human ‘power’ skills; eg empathy, curiosity, authenticity, collaboration, awareness; and how to accelerate learning in education and industry on the safe use of AI.
- February 2024: Talent, Turbulence and Technology - recruitment, retention and skill evolution with Robert Mac Giolla Phadraig on how the future of work will play out against the background of the Generative AI revolution; understand more about the importance of soft skills, including communications and story telling, as well as critical thinking, good decision-making processes and having clear guidelines for making judgements.
- January 2024: Live Challenges and Enterprise Projects with Niamh O'Hora, Lecturer and Educational Developer; Dr. Fernando Perez Tellez, Lecturer and researcher in Computing, School of Computing & Digital Transformation; Irene McGinn, Lecturer in Creative Digital Media, School of Media; Thomas Tracey, Academic Staff Member & Programme Chair TU717, School of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Kevin D. Delaney Lecturer and Educational Developer where we discuss how authentic learning experiences for TU Dublin students can be enhanced by connecting academic theory with practical, real-world applications through engagement with business, enterprise, and civic organisations.
