Application for the BA (Hons) in Screen Industry Practice is now open!

The School of Media at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland (Screen Ireland) have opened applications for the new Level 8 BA (Hons) in Screen Industry Practice programme commencing in February 2025, developed in consultation with colleagues in the Irish screen industry and supported by the TU Dublin Enterprise Academy and Cultural and Creative Industries Skillnet.
The BA (Hons) in Screen Industry Practice offers experienced practitioners across all roles and departments of the screen sector, an accelerated route to an honours degree. The programme will run part-time over 18 months (February 2025 - May 2026) and is delivered in a hybrid format (online and in-person) to allow participants to continue in full-time careers.
With an interactive, discussion and project-based approach to learning, the course offers experienced screen industry professionals the opportunity to build on their years of experience in the screen sector and to learn more about areas of interest to them.
Participants will join a diverse class of their peers, to learn about and discuss a broad range of topical themes in the screen sector including sustainability, EDI, cultural representation on screen, film narration, animation, and documentary form. In addition, participants will be introduced to approaches to research, critical reflection and self-directed learning. They will also have the option to choose from a wide range of elective modules on offer and complete a major project in an area of particular interest to them.
Successful applicants can avail of a membership rate supported by Screen Ireland and Cultural and Creative Industries Skillnet via the European Social Fund (the Government of Ireland, the European Union, and network companies). #EUInMyRegion.

Programme Details
Duration: Part-time and flexible, 18 months, three semesters. Beginning in mid-February 2025.
Cost: Total cost for the BA €3033, cost to the learner is €550 thanks to the support of Screen Ireland and Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet.
Successful applicants will be directed to register for membership of Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet to be eligible for a membership rate, supported by the European Union Social Fund
Non-refundable application fee: €175 (this is waived for those who have availed of the bridging module PORT1000 Portfolio Preparation).
Application Process
The application requirements for the programme are substantial, as the applicant must demonstrate in effect that they have the already achieved the equivalent to three years on a BA programme through work-based learning. Likewise, the evaluation and selection process is lengthy and robust.
