School Completion Programme – Award Ceremony

Published: 19 Nov, 2024

The Access and Outreach team were delighted to host an award ceremony on the Grangegorman campus on Friday 8th November for the D1 & D7 School Completion Programme.
For their School Attendance Promotion Project, young people from Stanhope Street Secondary School, St. Paul’s CBS Secondary School and Bradog Youth Service worked with a film-maker to create 90 second films that promote school attendance.  The films were showcased to 5th and 6th class students in the area who also voted for the films under a variety of categories. The showcases included facilitated discussions about education, the importance of school attendance and transitioning from primary to secondary.

During the award ceremony, the films were screened and prizes were distributed for the best film, the best acting, the most impactful film and the funniest film amongst other titles. It was a great afternoon and everyone who attended had a great time walking the red carpet and watching the really impressive films!

Another element of the project is a primary school art competition focusing on the importance of school attendance. The winners will have their art displayed as billboard advertisements locally the first two weeks of January 2025, so look out for those!
