Applicants for this programme should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 5.5 in each component.
The B.Sc. in Sports and Leisure Management takes a student-centred approach to learning. Students engage with the Sports, Leisure and associated sectors through innovative teaching and actively learning by doing. Real-life problem solving takes place through engagement with community and industry, and collaborative and reflective learning will include using case studies, guest lectures from experts in their field, and site visits to a range of Sports and Leisure facilities.
The programme is a mix of business, sports and leisure theory and applied modules providing you when you graduate with a wide range of competencies and attributes that you will find valuable working within the Sports, Leisure and associated sectors. You will study topics such as Communication, Marketing, Intercultural Competence, Leadership in Health Activity and Nutrition, Entrepreneurship, Leisure Law, and Facilities Management. Graduates will build the attributes and competencies required to work in the field.
Using options in Years 2 and 3, you can tailor your interests around the themes of community, leisure and wellness, tourism or management. A final-year dissertation will be chosen from themes of Community; Leisure and Well-being; Tourism; and Management.
In Year 2, students have the option to study at a partner University in Europe, under the Erasmus programme.
Students will undertake a 6-month professional work placement. This may be completed outside Ireland, also under the Erasmus programme.
On graduation, you may continue to postgraduate study in TU Dublin or elsewhere.
Graduates will have the opportunity to gain accreditation in areas such as personal training and pool lifeguard.

Previous graduates have developed careers as activity co-ordinators, consultants and project managers, event organisers, facility managers, personal trainers, sport and leisure development officers with local authorities, national governing bodies and educational institutions. Graduates have also developed roles in sales and marketing, membership management, information technology, and have progressed to general management and group management functions within sports and leisure organisations. Graduates have also had successful careers in the wider services sectors including retail, financial services and public administration. Graduates may also wish to set up their own business within the sector, and skills and competencies are focused on this during the later years of the Programme.
