To take part in placement, students must undergo the Garda Vetting process through TU Dublin.

Social care professionals work with a wide variety of groups such as people with disabilities, children and young people, members of the Traveller Community, homeless people, elderly people, asylum-seekers and people with mental health difficulties. The settings vary from residential services and community settings to training and education services.

This internationally recognised degree will equip you to work in Ireland and abroad. It’s taught through lectures, tutorials and practicals.

Subjects include psychology for social care, understanding disability, childhood growth and development, managing relationships, legal studies, mental, emotional and cognitive health, health and well-being, social policy, creative groupwork, leadership, equality and cultural diversity, addiction, youth work, and facilitating the arts in social care work.

Your work placements in Years 2 and 4 mean you can apply what you’ve learnt to the real world of social care. The teaching staff have worked in various areas of social care for many years and enjoy sharing their expertise and experience.

Working with people with disabilities, children and young people, members of the Traveller Community, homeless people, elderly people, asylum seekers and people with mental health difficulties, in residential services, community settings and training and education services.
