Retailing is one of the most dynamic and sophisticated of business sectors. It requires professional competencies in Retail Operations & Technology, Marketing, Management and Finance. This two-year Higher Certificate course will introduce you to the factors at work in managing these outwardly straightforward but inwardly complex businesses.

You’ll get an overview of the main functional areas in businesses and an understanding of how each element contributes to overall business performance. You’ll also come to understand the principles and practices of retail management, marketing and related disciplines within an overall business management context, and will get familiar with the workings of the ‘new digital economy’.

Study Abroad Opportunities
Students who transfer to the BSc in Retail & Services Management after completion of the higher certificate have the opportunity to study in either a European or North American University.

On graduation, you’ll be equipped to progress to ordinary and honours degree programmes at TU Dublin.

This programme is an ideal introduction to the management and marketing of retail enterprises. It provides a foundation for entry to the job market as a trainee manager in a retail company or as a marketing trainee in any company, particularly those where knowledge of supply-chain operations is beneficial.

Alternatively, if you reach the appropriate level in final examinations and meet certain subject prerequisites, you may have the opportunity to access honours degree programmes at the Year 2/Year 3 level in TU Dublin Aungier Street or elsewhere.

Students will take both general business modules and specialist retail specific modules.

Retail Management and Marketing is an excellent course. For anyone considering a career in the retail sector, it is a brilliant starting point.
