This programme will educate and train you to become a scientific analyst in the medicinal products and pharmaceutical sector, as well as related chemical industries.
It will give you a solid foundation in the chemical sciences, together with a hands-on approach to laboratory work. Access to well-equipped laboratories supports the development of a high standard of practical laboratory skills.
Specialised and industrially relevant modules in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical processes and/or the regulatory environment of the pharmachem sector are delivered at all stages.
The programme is designed so that you’ll develop the skills and competencies required of a chemical analyst at all stages.
On graduation, you’ll be qualified to avail of opportunities in the pharmaceutical, chemical, computer and food & beverage industries, state laboratories, environmental testing laboratories, and hospital labs and universities. Or you can progress to ordinary and honours degree programmes in TU Dublin.
If you achieve the appropriate grades, you can apply for entry to the final year of the honours degree programmes in Chemical Sciences with Medicinal Chemistry and in Forensic and Environmental Chemistry.

This Level 7 degree provided me with an excellent foundation in the theory and practical skills of chemistry, which allowed me to progress to the Level 8 degree. Through innovative teaching and dedicated staff, I developed a love for analytical and environmental chemistry and am currently conducting a PhD investigating the bio-active properties of crab shells.
