Horticulture / Gairneoireacht

Holders of an appropriate Bachelor of Science in Horticulture should apply to CAO in the year for which admission is sought. Entry is subject to normal entry requirements

This programme is suitable for you if you wish to make a sustainable, positive impact on the environment; to respond to growing concerns about the quality of our food and the environmental cost of its production; to be active and outdoors, caring for landscapes, parks or golf courses, or if you’re artistic and creative and interested in landscape design, or in the natural environment and its wellbeing potential. You’ll gain a thorough knowledge of horticulture science, encompassing life sciences, the chemical and physical sciences, and the mathematical and statistical techniques involved in designing experiments and data analytics.

Our hands-on teaching approach will give you opportunities to develop skills through real-life practical projects, often engaging with local community groups to design and build gardens to a brief and within a set budget.  In Year 4, you’ll be able to specialise in areas that interest you most.
