The use of IT and the development of software to solve a wide range of challenges is a dominant theme of our age. This programme has been updated to reflect the latest skills requirements of major ICT companies in Ireland. TU Dublin, Tallaght places over 80 students into the ICT sector every year. This programme reflects feedback from industry collaborators and the increasingly diverse technological landscape. We’ve taken inputs from companies such as Amazon AWS, IBM, Microsoft and SAP.

The programme focuses on supplying the demand for software developers with a modern skillset. It combines computer science sought by industry with current hands-on skills in areas such as developing for Public Cloud, DevOps and Machine Learning. Areas covered include Software Development, Localisation, Operating Systems,

Information Systems and Databases. You’ll study a range of programming languages and frameworks covering the major language types. You’ll also learn tech essentials such as networks, operating systems, analysis and cybersecurity.

As well as formal placements, you’ll have the opportunity to complete final-year projects with ICT leaders such as IBM, Bank of America and Tallaght University Hospital.

The software course is a very logic-oriented course and means you can work anywhere in the world. There is  great pay. Tech companies usually take care of their staff so great benefits and perks and typically there’s very flexible work. Can work from home, work while travelling, remotely, you don't have to miss out on family time, etc.
I work as a Software Engineering Manager/Technical Team Lead with jet.com. For computing graduates there is very high demand, it is well paid. The skills are very flexible across many industries – you can work in ecommerce, automotive, social media, gaming, fitness, health, fashion, etc. The Tallaght course was great. We learned the fundamentals of programming and computer science and  then how to apply those to multiple languages. Having skills in many areas can also be very attractive to companies.
