New computing power allows us to gain insights from large-scale datasets, which can be mined for information using machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.

This programme may suit you if you’re curious, like analysing information and discovering new trends, and take a rational approach to solving problems (basing opinions on information, understanding the limits of information, and drawing conclusions from data).

There’s a skills gap in Ireland and internationally for data scientists with computing and business intelligence skills. This four-year specialist degree, designed in consultation with major IT companies such as SAP, IBM and Microsoft, develops a unique mix of computing, business intelligence and data science skills to address this gap.
In addition to the common computing core, you’ll study Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning, Data Science, Statistics & Data Analysis, Business

Intelligence, Social Media Analysis & Visualisation, Data Mining and Intelligent Agents for Knowledge Discovery.

You’ll also learn tech essentials for a career in data science such as developing and scripting in python, databases, networks, operating systems, analysis and cybersecurity.
