This course has been designed to meet Irelands growing need for computing graduates who can contribute to the development of the next generation of cutting-edge computing technologies. The demand for our computing graduates keeps increasing as technology continues to positively shape the world around us. With a computing degree, you’ve got a skillset that is internationally recognised, providing the potential for career mobility and excellent earnings.

In this three-year course, you’ll experience a blend of computer science and hands on practical skills which will allow you to develop expertise in software development, mobile application development, web development, game and interactive development, entrepreneurship, networking, infrastructure, and cyber-security through a mix of theory-based and practical, hands-on subjects. We encourage students to experience a broad range of subjects before specialising through practical projects and electives in later years. Experience the excitement of building your first computer, designing software, developing web apps, and working on real world projects.

The campus provides students with state-of-the-art computing, networking and cyber-security labs. The course is a mix of theory-based and practical subjects, which will equip you with a range of technical, design and management skills. You’ll have easy online access to course materials, and on-site support from enthusiastic academic staff willing to share their expertise and knowledge with you.

Professional Accreditation

As part of the computing course, you can receive dual accreditation for industry-certified courses such as CompTIA, Cisco CCNA, Linux and Microsoft.

IT Requirements

A medium spec (i.e. able to run Win 10, an AV solution and Office comfortably. Be able to use Wi-fi and camera to attend online classes, use other software such as SPSS, Adobe Connect, Minitab, Maple, so needs more RAM, SSD, etc.)

To qualify for Advanced Entry applicants must be currently studying, completing, or have successfully completed, studies at Level 6, 7 or 8 in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) or an equivalent, in a related area. You must demonstrate by providing transcripts of results that you have achieved the learning outcomes for each stage you wish to advance past, for example:

  • To enter Year 2 via Advanced Entry, you must demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for Year 1.
  • For entry to Year 3, you must demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for Years 1 and 2.
  • For entry to Year 4, you must demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for Years 1, 2, and 3.

This course will prepare graduates with the skills they need to thrive in the IT sector and covers a wide range of modules, including the CISCO networking module. At the end of second year, students can choose to either specialise in Information Technology or Digital Forensics and Cyber Security during third and fourth year. Every lecture is followed by its respective practical session to equip students with not only theoretical knowledge but also valuable hands on experience.
