Course Title: Master of Science in Computing in Human Centered Artificial Intelligence
The digital transformation of organisations and society is in full swing, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) playing an increasingly significant role. Furthermore, the EU AI Act dramatically alters the market rules for AI systems and services, impacting EU and non-EU manufacturers, importers, distributors, authorised representatives, operators, and users. One primary objective of the Act is to ensure the safety and compliance with existing EU law on fundamental rights for AI systems placed on the EU market and used within the EU. This way, we ensure that ‘the human’ is respected in practice and the design of AI is human-centric.
In the MSc in Computing (Human Centred AI) programme at Technological University Dublin, you learn how to build and apply AI, and how to deal with the societal choices that come with it. The programme provides student-centric learning through interactive sessions, tutorials and practicals on AI trustworthiness, AI ethics, and how AI can be designed and socially harmonious. This course has been developed by a consortium of ten organisations across European Universities, Excellence Centres and Small and Medium Enterprises. European Activity includes a joint week spent working on Project ideas with industry and research partners in Utrecht annually.
More information on the course can be found here.
The minimum entry requirement for standard entrants to the course is a 2:2 (GPA 2.5 or equivalent), in a Bachelor of Science in Computing (Level 8) or a cognate discipline or equivalent. Candidates not attaining this standard level must achieve an acceptable standard for progression by other means approved by QQI. All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English. Candidates may be interviewed to determine eligibility.
If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as detailed on our website. Applicants for this programme should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.

This course is delivered entirely online. However, students are expected to visit campus (or travel to partner universities) for optional events such as Ethicon, Interactive Project Week and project presentations.
Classes are typically delivered on Mondays (or Tuesdays) and Wednesdays evenings, 6.00pm – 9.30pm. Lecturers may record the online session on request. However, most of the sessions are interactive hence, it is highly recommended that students attend these online sessions, as interactions with students will not be recorded.
Applications will open in February 2025
Please visit How to Apply | TU Dublin for information on the application process.

- No Student Visa Required: Non-EU students applying for 100% online part-time courses do not require a student visa for Ireland.
- No Residency Status Needed: Applicants do not need to possess any residency status in Ireland to be eligible for online programs as there is no requirement to travel to Ireland.
I joined this programme as I was working as a Tech Consultant and wanted to upskill. This was the perfect opportunity for me to pursue a master's in AI with an intersectional edge and human-centric values. My experience so far has been very positive. We have been trained to focus on the broader picture concerning AI development. The Lecturers are always open to discussions on questions raised in class, and it's been really rewarding so far.

I decided to take this course because I have experience in data analysis, and I'm interested in its interdisciplinary approach, especially the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence. Furthermore, this course prioritises hands-on AI application through continuous assessments and practical assignments, offering exposure to real-world AI implementations. The course emphasises human-centred AI, ensuring that AI development aligns with societal values.

I chose this master for the strong focus on ethics and the social impact of AI. The program's interdisciplinary nature gives you an edge compared to other AI students; we can evaluate current popular AI tools and methods from different perspectives (technical and ethical). The small class sizes allow for open discussions and close communication with your professors. Another advantage of this program is the strong connection with the industry and the many opportunities to network with these professionals, such as the international IP-week, Ethicon, and during collaborations on your master thesis.
