PhD scholarships
Expenditure in research projects varies according to the nature of the research being carried out. In addition, all graduate students are required to pay registration fees.
You can self-fund all the costs if you’re able to do so, but some projects are not suitable for self-funded students; for example, laboratory materials are too costly to be sustained by a single individual.
You also need to consider how you’ll fund your living costs throughout your research programme.
However, a number of scholarship opportunities are available to research applicants:
- TU Dublin Scholarship Programme
- Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship
- Irish Research Council Funding Schemes
- SUSI Grant Scheme
- Teagasc– the Agricultural and Food Development Authority
- Environmental Protection Agency
Foreign governments may also provide funding for their citizens, for example:
China – the CSC Chinese Scholarship Council
Kazakhstan – the Bolashak International Scholarship
Saudi Arabia – the King Abdullah Scholarship Programme
