There is a wealth of training available online addressing the different aspects of Open Research at different levels and aimed at different audiences. TU Dublin has material available via Brightspace including recordings from previous sessions at the Graduate Research School’s Professional Development Training Weeks. The Library also provides useful Guides on research support topics.

The list below includes some general courses which are aimed at researchers.

If you are looking for training materials on a specific subject, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.

The Open Research Support Unit can provide training on a variety of subjects by request to research groups, schools or at faculty level. Please contact us to arrange a session for groups of any size. We also provide sessions during the Graduate Research School’s Professional Development Training Weeks and through People Development.

In the past year we have offered training on the following subjects:

  • Writing a Data Management Plan
  • Writing a Narrative CV
  • Research Data Management
  • Open Access Publishing
  • Dissemination Planning & Open Methods
  • AI Literacy
  • Responsible Use of Metrics (inc bibliometrics)
  • Managing your Research Profile
  • Open Educational Resources
  • GDPR & Open Research

  • Open Requirements for specific funding calls

To organise any training session, please fill out a training request form.

We can also facilitate several educational games on open research which offer an alternative way for participants to familiarise themselves with the principles and background to Open Research.

Currently we can offer the Open Access Escape Room, designed and created by Katrine Sundsbø in 2018, a fun 30-minute game where you need to free research papers from an evil wizard. By September 2024, we hope to offer Open Science in Peril as well as the Open Educational Resources Escape Room.
