CREST were approached by Badgie, a Dublin based company interested in working with repurposed neoprene to manufacture custom badges that can be adhered to wetsuits. These badges will allow divers to recognise each other underwater and allow personalisation of wetsuits. As part of this collaboration CREST developed the printing method and manufacture of the badges. A suitable adhesive was identified that adhered well to the neoprene surface and could withstand immersion in salt water for prolonged periods.

The sublimation printing process developed resulted in strong clear colours that did not fade upon exposure to simulated UV radiation. The badges were shown to resist warping with stretching.
