The Water Innovation Research Centre (WIRC) is part of SHRH. The WIRC seeks to reduce the influence of poor water quality on public health by identifying specific areas of threat, by developing technologies for detecting, assessing, and minimising the levels of biological and chemical pollutants in drinking water supplies and by developing novel water monitoring, hygiene and water treatment systems.

The WIRC will be based in a new state-of-the-art research facility at our Grangegorman Campus. The water group brings together researchers in TU Dublin from a wide range of disciplines to undertake research on water-related issues.

The research seeks to reduce the influence of poor water quality on public health by identifying specific areas of threat, by developing technologies for detecting, assessing and minimising the levels of biological and chemical pollutants in drinking water supplies and by developing novel water monitoring, hygiene and water treatment systems.
