This theme is a pervasive one for tPOT activities and emphasises the direct involvement of users and other key stakeholders across design, implementation and evaluation phases of research.
In accordance with the title of our research centre “towards People Oriented Technology”, for this theme, we aim to place end users and any stakeholders affected by technology at the core of our research activities.
We have developed lasting partnerships and interactions with a number of NGOs and public bodies. tPOT members have also a long record of outreach partnerships with community groups through volunteer work and STEM engagement.
Key overlapping topics of interest that are covered within this theme are:
- Co-design tools and participatory methods to involve people in research and technology design
- Multimodal interaction design for accessible and engaging interfaces
- Human Centered approaches to digital health
- Inclusive ethics for data collection with users i.e. data management, study protocols and informed consent processes that are accessible to people with diverse requirements and lived experiences
