Medical Certification

A medical cert will only be issued if the student has attended the Student Health Centre, contacted the Student Health Centre at the time of illness or event, or if confirmatory evidence detailing the problem is presented to the Student Health Centre from an appropriate source.

Certificate by Phone

Sometimes the best thing to do is to stay at home. By phoning one of the nurses you can obtain advice. Please phone early in the day so that we can have the opportunity to phone you back and arrange a doctor’s appointment if necessary for you that day.

Other Sources

You can visit your own GP if you wish.

If necessary you can complete a Extenuating Circumstances | TU Dublin.

If you are so unwell that you cannot sit an exam you must contact the student health centre or your own GP that day or as soon as possible by phone,for management of your illness (if needed) and to enable process of certification.

Full eye examinations are carried out free of charge in the National Optometry Centre.

Eyesight tests for driving licenses can be carried out in either Student Health Centre, by making an appointment with one of the doctors. Contact us to arrange an appointment. View fee information.

Emergency Assistance

This scheme provides emergency funding to students who require immediate financial assistance in some of the following circumstances:

  • Students who are on placement abroad and require emergency financial assistance
  • Students who need to vacate their accommodation urgently
  • Students who suffer bereavement and require immediate assistance to attend a funeral or related expenses
  • Travel of an urgent or essential nature
  • Students who have had an accident
  • Emergency and extenuating circumstances

Dental/Ophthalmic Assistance

This scheme provides financial assistance towards the cost of routine Dental or Ophthalmic treatment to whole time TU Dublin students in financial difficulty.

It is not necessary to call to the Financial Aid & Accommodation Office in order to apply for funding unless you are asked to do so.

Specialist & Medical Assistance

This scheme provides financial assistance towards the cost of specialist and medical treatment to whole time TU Dublin City students in financial difficulty.
