Everybody stresses out during the transition to university, but with good connections, it can be easier.
Peer mentoring provides positive opportunities for first-year students to gain immediate friendships with peers, access ‘insider’ knowledge of life as a student, and ease any anxieties.
A peer mentor is someone (usually a second year) who will share tips on how to manage the transition and negotiate the settling-in process a little bit better. Having a peer mentor can also help students develop a stronger sense of identity and contribute towards people feeling more connected with TU Dublin.
Check with your first year tutor or your local chaplain to find if your course has adopted a peer mentoring scheme yet.
