It’s ok to…

  • Encounter difficulties with certain subjects
  • Feel anxious about asking questions or keeping up with the pace of the class
  • Feel isolated or lonely and be worried about meeting new people
  • Feel anxious about giving presentations or working in groups
  • Feel overwhelmed by adjusting to various aspects of university life, such as timetables, teaching styles, and deadlines

 

  Try to not miss lectures

  • Use AT provided to you by DSS
  • Read around your subjects

 

Get support early

  • Contact the Disability Support Service (DSS) to register with the service. This will enable you to avail of learning support, AT support and the Autism Coordinator.
  • Seek support from various resources, such as the Maths Learning Centre (1-1 support/group), Academic Writing Centre, lecturers, classmates/study groups, friends, tutors, and class representatives.
  • If unsure if the course is right for you, speak to your course tutor, career development centre, or campus life support.
