The Fund for Students with Disabilities (FSD) allocates funding to third-level colleges for the provision of services and supports to full-time and part-time students with disabilities. The purpose of the Fund for Students with Disabilities (FSD) is to provide funding to higher and further education institutions to assist them in offering supports and services to eligible students with disabilities so that they can participate on an equal basis with their peers. The Fund for Students with Disabilities is funded by the Government of Ireland.
Students are encouraged to register for support at least six weeks prior to their exam period so that they can access supports through the fund. Students must meet specific criteria in order to qualify for support and students will be informed of these when they register with our service.
A claim under the Fund is made on behalf of an eligible student by TU Dublin following an assessment of need. Applications cannot be made directly to the Fund by students.
Supports funded under the Fund for Students with Disabilities fall into 3 main categories:
- Personal and Academic Support
- Assistive Technology
- Transport
Students wishing to avail of these supports must meet with a Learning Support Officer and have a Needs Assessment completed.
