If you have issues with body confidence or body image why not try the ‘Body Acceptance Group’ that is delivered by trained facilitators from the Student Counselling Service & the Student’s Union. This program is evidence based & has been delivered in Universities all over the world helping students improve body image issues.
What is the Body Acceptance group? The Body Acceptance group runs for an hour weekly over four weeks & is aimed at helping university students feel better about their bodies & how they look. This program has been found to improve body satisfaction, reduce risk for eating disorders, and improve college and social functioning for hundreds of students. It works by getting students to challenge the perfect body ideal by doing verbal, written & behavior exercises. This leads to a shift in beliefs & to new health behaviors that lead to body acceptance. The group is non-judgmental & confidential for all group participants.
- This group is interactive where you will engage in open conversations about body image & discuss body activism.
- Please note that participants must be available to attend all four sessions & will be expected to actively participate in each session & complete home practice tasks.
