Frequently Asked Questions
Currently registered students are eligible to access the counselling service. Students who have deferred their course or are repeating without full registration may not be eligible to attend the counselling service during that academic year.
The SCS does not provide counselling services to staff. Information on staff counselling is available here: Employee Assistance Service | TU Dublin
Those wishing to register for counselling need to complete the online registration form and book an online assessment session with one of the counsellors on the online booking system. Further information and the link to book your appointment can be found here: Book an Appointment | TU Dublin
If you have a visual impairment or other difficulties that make it hard for you to use the booking system, you can contact the service administrator to help you register at: counselling.service@tudublin.ie or on: 086 082 0543.
If you have to cancel or reschedule your assessment or other appointments, you can do this by emailing the counselling team at counselling.city@tudublin.ie or phoning 086 082 0543. Please note that the service is often busy, so it is important to notify the department as soon as possible to allow others on the wait list to attend. If you fail to arrive for an assessment and do not contact the service, we will assume that you do not wish to make any further appointments with the service.
If you cancel more than 2 appointments with less than 48hrs notice this may result in the service closing your file. You may contact us again if you wish to re-engage with the service.
The counselling service is sometimes in high demand, especially at busy times in the academic year, which means we may be operating with a waiting list. In this case, you will be contacted with an offer of ongoing counselling or an individual support session as soon as an appointment becomes available. Please ensure that you reply to phone messages or emails (sent to your TU Dublin account) as this is how the counselling service will be in touch to offer you an appointment.
Our service offers counselling sessions between 9am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm Monday to Friday. You can find information about emergency support outside this time here, as well as information about other services and resources: Emergency Support | TU Dublin
