At TU Dublin, we understand that different academic disciplines can present unique challenges. That's why we offer dedicated support for areas like maths and academic writing.
We have an Academic Writing and Learning Centre as well as the Maths Learning Centre, to help enhance your skills and knowledge.
The Academic Writing and Learning Centre is committed to fostering confident, independent writers in an academic setting. They offer a suite of free supports including pre-booked one-on-one appointments and thematic workshops on academic writing.
If maths presents a challenge, don't hesitate to drop into the Mathematics Learning Centre. No appointment is necessary; their tutors are ready to provide personalised assistance with any area of maths you find tricky.
The Disability Support Service aims to ensure that any student with a disability does not experience an educational disadvantage and that all students can access and equally participate in and benefit from educational opportunities at TU Dublin.
They provide confidential one-to-one needs assessments to all students registered with the service. The relevant supports are then put in place based on the recommendations of these needs assessments. It also aids students in their adjustment to third-level education all of which complements the many student support services available. Note: Only registered TU Dublin students can avail of supports from the Disability Support Service.
With these supports, we aim to help you excel in every aspect of your academic journey.
Our Student Health Service offers on-campus healthcare, providing a holistic approach to your health that encompasses general medical, sexual, psychological, and social facets.
Health is an integral part of student success, encompassing academic achievement, physical fitness, psychological wellbeing, social engagement, and a strong sense of self-worth and resilience.
This service, strictly confidential, understands that academic achievement, physical fitness, psychological well-being, social engagement, and a strong sense of self-worth and resilience all contribute to overall student success.
The Student Counselling Service provides free, confidential counselling sessions both online and face-to-face, staffed by a team of professional counsellors and assistant psychologists. They operate from Monday to Friday, with services available between 9am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm.
The services encompass one-on-one counselling, group therapy programs, and various events throughout the academic year. They also offer assistance for students engaging with Silvercloud, a self-help platform equipped with information, tools, and tips to handle common mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and others.
The goal is to ensure that you're never alone when dealing with the pressures of college or personal issues. Counselling offers a safe, non-judgmental space for you to discuss any concerns you may have, whether they're related to academics, personal matters, or mental health.
Additionally, we provide Pastoral Care & Chaplaincy support offering a safe and confidential environment to explore any concerns or worries. Available 24/7, the team is here to lend an ear, offer guidance, and provide support. They regularly organise events, imbued with Irish (Celtic) spirituality and hospitality, inviting both new and returning students to participate and engage.
Why consider visiting the Chaplaincy? They offer a one-to-one confidential service, a place of kindness and hospitality, support for acclimating to university life, and a quiet room for meditation or mindfulness.
The services extends to bereavement support and volunteering opportunities, fostering inter-cultural and religious exchange. Whether you follow a specific faith, multiple faiths, or none at all, we are here to support you throughout your journey at TU Dublin.
