Welcome and Congratulations
We are delighted that you have chosen to study with us at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin). We are excited to accompany you on this transition into a new exciting chapter.
We know that this is both an exciting and apprehensive time and, we would like to reassure you that the Access Support team is committed to making your transition to university a positive one.
Throughout your undergraduate studies at TU Dublin, the Access Support Team will be there to provide consistent help, ensuring that you are supported to achieve your best outcome.
As a member of the TU Dublin Access community, you can avail a comprehensive range of post-entry supports, including:
- Mediation between you, your tutors, and course coordinator
- Guidance to both internal and external supports
- Assistance and resources for enhancing study skills
- Welfare and budgeting information
- Social events to connect and engage with your peers
Your Support Officers - Johanna at City, and Gill at Blanchardstown/Tallaght - along with your lecturers, school staff, other departments and support services at TU Dublin are all available to provide guidance and assistance. We are unified in our goal to help you excel at TU Dublin.
Your Student Support Officers arrange four meetings throughout the academic year. These meetings, held in smaller groups during October/November and February/March, and larger groups in November/December and March/April, provide a platform for you to connect with your peers in the Access community. They're also an avenue for us to ensure you're integrating well into your programme and gaining essential study skills such as goal setting, time management, and recognising when to seek support.
Guidelines for Access Check In Meetings:
- Commit to one mandatory 45-minute meeting each semester with your Student Support Officer.
- You'll receive information on the meeting schedule and the booking process via email a week in advance, and the updates will also be posted on this page.
- Remember, academics come first: don't miss a lecture to attend these meetings.
As a first-year Access student at TU Dublin, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with a peer mentor – an experienced Access student leader who knows the ropes and is here to offer you guidance and support. Access student leaders are knowledgeable students from Access backgrounds who are eager to share their insights and advice. You’ll be paired with a mentor from based on your course, who will reach out by email to invite you to a one-on-one mentoring session. The Access team strongly encourages you to link in with your peer mentor, as it’s a valuable chance to learn from someone who’s been in your shoes and succeeded. Find out more and hear from our student leaders in the video below.
