The European Week of Sport is an initiative by the European Commission promoting sport and physical activity across Europe under the slogan         "Be Active."

This year, the European Week of Sport coincides with the Student Life Festival.

On September 25th, ACTIVE8 DAY will take place on all campuses. This event, organized by our university’s sports clubs, will also mark the end of our festival.

The European Week of Sport is for everyone, regardless of age, social background, or fitness level. We must stay active regularly—indoors and outdoors—throughout the year to improve our physical and mental health and support social inclusion.

Launched in 2015, the European Week of Sport was created in response to the growing crisis of inactivity. Although sport and physical activity contribute significantly to the well-being of European citizens, physical activity levels are currently stagnating and even declining in some countries.

Initiatives like the European Week of Sport raise awareness of how important an active lifestyle is for everyone, no matter who we are or what we do.

Even a small increase in regular physical activity can have a profound impact on our long-term health.

The Week aims to give people across the world a springboard to get moving.

The European Week of Sport aims to launch new activities and build on existing successful initiatives at European, national, regional, and local levels.

Join one of the TU Dublin sports clubs and become part of the European community united by sport and a healthy lifestyle! The campaign themes for this year are: Youth, Inclusion, and Equality.
