Who Should Attend:
All staff are encouraged to participate in first aid training. Participants who successfully complete this course will be certified as a First Aid Responder in the workplace.
Course Aim:
Participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to assess a casualty’s condition, make a provisional diagnosis, and treat and monitor a casualty while waiting for professional medical help to arrive.
Course Content:
All essential aspects of First Aid will be covered such as:
- Accident scene management
- Wounds and bleeding; Soft tissue Injuries
- Burns; Chemicals; Poisons; Electrical Incidents
- Medical emergencies (diabetes, epilepsy, asthma)
- Trauma emergencies (crush and spinal injuries)
- Basic life saving techniques (CPR)
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Please note due to the practical elements involved in this training course, participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing.
Participants will be required to undergo an assessment (with theory and practical assessments) at the end of the course. On successful completion of the course and assessments, participants will receive a Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) certificate. Certificates are valid for two years at which point re-certification is required. A two day refresher course is required to retain certification. If certification lapses the full three day course must be repeated.
