Course Trainer: External Trainer/Occupational Health Officer
Target Audience:
It is a requirement that all staff members working in kitchens, laboratories, and workshops attend this one day training course. This is available and recommended for all staff of TU Dublin.
Course Objective:
On completion of this basic first aid course, participants will be able to deal with common injuries and emergency situations until the services of a medical practitioner or emergency personnel arrives.
Course Content:
- Accident Scene Management
- Responsibilities of First Aider Assessment
- Diagnosis and principles of treatment Wounds and Bleeding
- Burns and Scalds
- Soft Tissue Injuries
- Eye Injuries
- Chemicals
- Electric Shock
- Introduction to basic life saving techniques (CPR)
Please note that due to the practical elements involved in this training course, participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing.
This course does not meet the content or level of training required for participants to attain certification in Occupational First Aid. However, the course aims to increase the level of basic first aid knowledge in the workplace.
