Dr. Kiefer Ramberg

Assistant Lecturer
Email: kiefer.ramberg@tudublin.ie
Dr Kiefer Ramberg completed a BSc in Biopharmaceutical Chemistry at University of Galway before being awarded an NUI Travelling PhD Studentship to study the structure of polymer-conjugated protein drugs and protein-based materials. During this period, Kiefer developed expertise in the areas of protein production, macromolecular crystallography, and biomolecular NMR. Kiefer completed much of this work at the French National Synchrotron as well as the University of Florence (CERM NMR centre) with the aid of funding from a Horizon 2020 iNext-Discovery grant.
After completing his PhD, Kiefer took up a role as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow as part of a BBSRC-funded COVID19 rapid action project within the University of Dundee School of Life Sciences and the Membrane Structural & Functional Biology Group at Trinity College Dublin. Kiefer held the position of Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry within the School of Pharmacy from 2022 to 2024 at Trinity College Dublin before taking up an Assistant Lecturer appointment within the School of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Science at TU Dublin.
His current research interests include protein-based materials, biopharmaceuticals, and the development of bacteriophage-derived endolysins as novel antibiotics (enzybiotics).
