Clinical Measurement Science involves the measurement and imaging of the physiological activity of the human body to provide medical diagnostic information.
The School of Physics & Clinical & Optometric Sciences at TU Dublin is unique in the Republic of Ireland in providing education in this discipline.
A Level 8 undergraduate degree programme (BSc Clinical Measurement Science) allows students to graduate with major and minor clinical disciplines from the following:
- Cardiac Physiology
- Vascular Physiology
- Respiratory Physiology
- Neurophysiology
The School also offers a Graduate Entry Programme (Higher Diploma in Clinical Measurement Science) which also offers direct access to the profession in the same disciplines.
Both of the above programmes involve substantial practical clinical education in the hospital setting, including 24 weeks of clinical placement in Year 3 and 13 weeks in Year 4.
The school also provides many opportunities for the pursuit of higher research degrees (MPhil and PhD) for members of the Clinical Physiology profession and has a long track record in this area.
