Dr. Andrew Kavanagh
Adjunct Lecturer
Dr Andrew Kavanagh obtained a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (2008) and a subsequent Ph.D. in Chemo and Biosensor platform development (2011) from Dublin City University. He has worked in a postdoctoral research and supervisor capacity in the area of biosensor platform characterisation (2011). He has 10 major publications from his time in Academia, with a total of 402 citations and a h-index of 8 (Andrew Kavanagh - Google Scholar).
He has since gained a further 11 years of diverse Scientific experience within the global Biologics and Chemical manufacturing sectors. To date, he has supported manufacturing process development activities in Ireland, Australia, Singapore, and the US within his professional career.
Dr. Kavanagh has also obtained a L9 qualification in Quality Analytics for Biopharma from NIBRT, as well as professional accreditation from the RSC (Chartered Scientist), ASQ (Six Sigma Green Belt) and AXELOS (Prince2 Project Management). He is currently an Associate Principal Scientist in the area of Process Analytics at an R&D manufacturing site in Ireland.
Since 2020, Dr Kavanagh has been employed as an hourly paid assistant lecturer (HPAL) and a guest lecturer within the school of Food Science and Health at TU Dublin. He continues to lecture in areas such as GMP/Regulatory Science, downstream biologics purification manufacturing, Quality Control and Process Analytical Technology integration within Biologics drug substance manufacturing.
In 2023, he joined the school of Food Science and Health in an Adjunct Lecturer capacity, ensuring TUD undergraduate students gain a competitive knowledge of the key industrial skillsets they must possess in order to integrate into the wider workforce.
