Real Estate and Valuations

The discipline of real estate is very broad ranging from property development, property management, planning and development, and investment to its various components of retail, industrial, commercial and residential property.

All our courses are accredited by Statutory Registration Body, the Property Services Regulatory Authority. Our courses are also accredited by the two leading real estate professional bodies in Ireland - the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers. Both Professional Bodies have international affiliations - the SCSI with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and IPAV with The European Group of Valuers Association - which enhance our graduates employability internationally and across Europe respectively.   

We are also academic members of the International Valuation Standards Councils and the Urban Land Institute. We provide students opportunities to collaborate with disciplines across the Business and Built Environment Sectors within the University and Internationally. 

The career pathways in the real estate sector are broad. All of our courses provide the training and required accreditation to practice as a traditional auctioneer and estate agent in Ireland but the majority of our courses train graduates for a broader fulfilling career in the real estate sector. They may choose to obtain a range of experience across agency, valuation or management of a range of asset classesIn addition to the traditional career opportunities an increasing number of our graduates opt for one of the growing number of exciting career opportunities in the real estate sector such as (capital markets, corporate real estate, asset management, sustainability, PropTechresearch etc.).

*Note that students doing the part-time MSc Real Estate can register for their APC with the SCSI at the beginning of the programme and this will count towards the two years work experience requirement.
