Dr David McDonnell is a graduate of Technological University Dublin, holding a PhD in Fluid Dynamics (Mathematical Sciences), an MSc in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and a BE in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
David’s teaching portfolio includes Condition Based Monitoring, Metrology and Quality, Engineering Mathematics and Electrical Science and he has lectured across several programmes including Engineering Reliability Management, Product Design, Automation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Before taking up his current position, David was Programme Chair for the Part-time Engineering Reliability Management programme.
David’s PhD research was in the area of Fluid Dynamics, with specific emphasis on the analysis of drug dissolution rates within several standard testing apparatus. David has also undertaken research in the field of Condition Based Monitoring with particular interest in Vibration Analysis.
David’s current research projects include the use of Mixed Reality Technologies and their deployment within an Engineering Laboratory setting.
