Sustainable Transport & Mobility Research Group (STMRG)
The Sustainable Transport & Mobility Research Group (STMRG) is a group of multi-disciplinary researchers based within TU Dublin. STMRG and its members have a uniquely multi-disciplinary approach, with a core interest in progressing engaged and active research in sustainable transport and mobility policy and practice, both in Ireland and internationally. STMRG’s multi-disciplinarity and focus on sustainability within the built environment is enhanced through continuous engagement with industry, civic society and academic discourse.
Independent Evaluation & Monitoring of Sustainable Infrastructure
STMRG are currently engaged in a ground-breaking and innovative research programme with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. In 2021 the group successfully completed Phase 1A (Interim Findings) of the “Evaluation and Review of the Phase 1 Covid-19 Mobility and Public Realm Works undertaken by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLRCoCo)”, as part of the “Covid Mobility Research Project”. (Principal Investigator: Dr Sarah Rock).
22nd International Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities ("Walk 21" Conference, Dublin, September 2022)
STMRG are leading the delivery of the 22nd International Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities, being hosted by TU Dublin, in partnership with the Government of Ireland and the Walk21 Foundation. (Conference Lead: Dr Lorraine D'Arcy).
MSc in Sustainable Transport & Mobility
STMRG are closely linked with the MSc in Sustainable Transport & Mobility, a a two-year part-time postgraduate programme, delivered jointly at the TU Dublin School of Civil and Structural Engineering (SCSE) and the TU Dublin School of Transport Engineering, Environment & Planning (STEEP).
The programme is multi-disciplinary and delivered by a team drawn from a range of professional backgrounds across TU Dublin along with experts from industry. The programme is designed to be highly engaged, both with industry and civic society, encouraging current best practice and reflectiveness, and to facilitate new research and innovation in the field of transport planning.
