His research interests are in the area of multimodal interaction where he has published extensively in the fields of geospatial discovery, auditory interfaces, immersive experiences and AR/VR. In his previous role as Research Fellow and Senior Software Engineer he worked on a wide range of Research Projects. He was Senior Software Engineer on MobilAudio where he was responsible for coordinating the design, implementation, testing and user trial of a suite of software including iOS, Android and Web applications. His role on the project also included working closely with senior licencing executives and commercialisation consultants to maximise commercial viability and exposure of the application suite to potential investors.
As Senior Researcher and lead Software Engineer on Paris he was involved in the research and development of a speech tagging software that included the implementation of advanced speech analysis software for language learning. He worked closely with the HPSU Rendezvu to integrate the software into their advanced online speech analysis and training platform. On MobiSurround he was the Senior Software Engineer on the development of a surround sound auditory user interface for location-based-services on smartphones.
His work on StratAG (Strategic Research in Advanced Geo-technologies) as a Postdoc Researcher involved the implementation of a web services architecture for LBS and the development of iOS applications for mobile spatial search in 3D. His role on iCiNG (Innovative Cities for the Next Generation) as a Senior Researcher saw him working with distributed development teams where he was responsible for the implementation and deployment of a mobile messaging software infrastructure in three European cities.

Teaching Profile
Dr Keith Gardiner is a Lecturer in the School of Media at TU Dublin. His subject areas include mobile development, progressive web applications, multi-experience and UX. For the past 10 years, Keith was the Course Coordinator for the MSc in Creative Digital Media & UX (TU294) and also teaches on the BA in Game Design (TU984). He has a BSc in Applied Computing from Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), an MPhil in Digital Media from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and received his PhD from DIT in 2015.
