Welcome to Languages at TU Dublin
Adventure and Languages Go Hand in Hand
Competence in languages is critical to understanding social and cultural developments in today’s world and can significantly enhance career prospects. With a reputation for excellence, TU Dublin Language Studies is proud to offer a range of programmes and classes in Chinese, English, French, German, Irish, Italian, and Spanish with an emphasis not only on acquisition, but on culture, literature, linguistics, and film.
Our lecturers are widely published and student centred. Their research-led content offers fresh perspectives on how language shapes society. Our graduates are sought-after communicators who pursue careers in business, tourism, international relations, and the arts. Many go on to post-graduate study.
Prominent policy initiatives are central to the development of Language Studies at TU Dublin. Languages Connect, the EUt+ Alliance, and the National Strategy on Internationalisation of Higher Education offer key protocols. They underpin our values of multilingual proficiency, educational mobility, intercultural competence, and broad employability so that our graduates can join their peers across many domains to tackle global challenges and build a sustainable future.
Situated in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, TU Dublin Language Studies delivers programmes that combine language learning with the study of Business, Tourism, Computing, and Law. Our Cultural Studies modules are offered as electives on a wide array of programmes across the university.
Study Abroad is an exciting feature of our programmes. The Erasmus+ Mobility Programme ensures that our classes are linguistically authentic and culturally diverse. The English Language Teaching Assistantship is also available on some programmes through cooperation with participating Embassies.
Whatever your aspirations, adventure and languages go hand in hand. So join us at Language Studies TU Dublin where infinite possibilities abound.
Note: Language modules across our programmes are benchmarked against the CEFR (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). This is an international standard produced by the Council of Europe for describing language competence.
